Referral Terms

These terms govern the Poster referral programme: how a referral becomes valid, what counts as abuse, when we may revoke a reward, the limits that apply, how long referral credits last, and our right to change or end the programme.

They apply in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where they conflict on a referral-specific point, these Referral Terms apply.

1. What counts as a valid referral

A referral is valid only when all of the following are true:

  1. The invited person opened your referral link and created a new account through it. An account that was already more than 2 hours old when the link was applied to it cannot be attributed to you.
  2. The invited person created at least one poster on that account. A sign-up on its own is never a valid referral.
  3. The referral passes our anti-abuse checks (section 2).

In addition:

  • You must have created at least 1 poster yourself before you can earn the first-poster reward. Sharing a link before that earns you nothing from it.
  • Attribution is stored in your browser for 30 days after you click a referral link, and can only be bound to an account within 2 hours of that account being created. Outside that window no referral relationship is recorded.
  • The invited person must wait at least 60 seconds between signing up and generating, so that automated sign-up-and-generate scripts do not qualify.
  • You cannot refer yourself, and one invited account can be attributed to only one referrer — the first one recorded.

2. What counts as abuse

The following are prohibited and void any reward that arises from them:

  • Creating accounts for other people, or creating multiple accounts yourself, in order to claim referral rewards.
  • Using disposable, temporary, or programmatically generated email addresses.
  • Automating sign-ups or poster generation with scripts, bots, or emulators.
  • Buying, selling, or trading referral links, invite codes, or accounts.
  • Spamming referral links, or posting them where they are off-topic or against the host platform's rules.
  • Misrepresenting Poster — for example promising rewards, pricing, or capabilities we do not offer.
  • Any attempt to defeat the limits in section 4 or the checks in this section.

3. When a reward can be revoked

Referral rewards other than the sign-up bonus are held for 7 days before the credits land in the receiving account. Releases are processed by a daily job, so the wait can be up to a day longer. At the moment of release we re-check the reward, and it is cancelled if:

  • the purchase it was based on was refunded, reversed, or is no longer in a paid state;
  • the order behind it can no longer be verified;
  • the invited account, or the account due to receive the credits, no longer exists.

Cancelled rewards are shown as cancelled on your invite dashboard, together with the reason.

Separately from that automatic check, we reserve the right to review referrals ourselves, to withhold or void any reward obtained in breach of section 2, and to suspend or close the accounts involved. That review is discretionary and is not part of the automatic release check above.

Credits that have already been issued are not clawed back when we tighten our anti-abuse rules. Tightening affects rewards that have not been issued yet.

4. Limits

  • Sign-up bonus: the invited person receives 5 credits immediately, on top of the standard new-account credits. It is paid when the link is applied to their account and does not by itself make the referral valid. It follows the same anti-abuse limits as the standard new-account credits — including a limit on how many recent accounts may come from one network — and is not granted where those limits apply.
  • First poster: you receive 10 credits when an invited person creates their first poster.
  • First purchase: you receive 100 credits when an invited person makes their first purchase, or 200 credits if that first purchase is 50 USD or more. The invited person receives 30 credits. This is paid once per invited person, on their first purchase only — later purchases by the same person do not pay again.
  • Monthly cap on first-poster rewards: a maximum of 150 credits per referrer per calendar month (UTC). First-purchase rewards are not capped.
  • Daily cap: a maximum of 2 first-poster rewards per referrer per 24 hours.
  • We also operate an overall monthly budget for the programme. As it is used up, we stop creating new rewards until the next month. Rewards that are already being held are still released on schedule — see section 6.

5. Validity of referral credits

Referral credits expire 90 days after they are issued. Expiry is counted from the date the credits actually land in your account, not from the date the referral was made.

Referral credits can be spent inside Poster only. They have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or exchanged for money, and are not refundable.

6. Changes and termination

We may change these terms, change reward amounts, pause individual reward types, or end the referral programme at any time, for any reason, without individual notice.

If we do:

  • Credits already in your account are unaffected.
  • Rewards already being held are still released on their original schedule. Pausing or ending the programme stops new rewards from being created; it does not cancel rewards that have already been earned and are waiting out their hold period.
  • Rewards that had not yet been triggered when the change took effect will not be created, and are not paid retroactively.

The current status of every reward you earn as a referrer — issued, pending with its release date, or cancelled — is shown on your invite dashboard. Credits you receive as an invited person, such as the sign-up bonus, appear in your credits history instead.
